A staple in Wallaceburg for decades, Duchene’s has been my go-to for home improvement supplies and assistance since we bought our first home over 10 years ago. Mel, Victoria and the crew are always so helpful and no matter what your décor question is, they have an answer. When she reached out to see if I could help them with some branding photography for their updated website, I jumped at the opportunity. We worked with Shelby at Lunar on this project, and we had a blast working together (as always).
Through the process of planning the shoot we learned a ton about the history of the store and got to explore all of the nooks and cranny’s . The shop has been in Mel’s family for ages, and she does an awesome job honouring the history of the store while keeping up with the newest trends.
Funnily enough, while we were exploring the store and the attic we found a can of paint on the stairs with my mom’s name on it from years ago. If that doesn’t tell you how “small town” this shop is, I don’t know what would! But like I said, Duchene’s is keeping up with the trends and when their new website launches you will be able to order online and easily view what they have in stock in store! There is nothing I appreciate more than being pushed outside my comfort zone. Shelby at Lunar & Co. asked if I might be interested in doing a lifestyle branding session for her branding and marketing company and I jumped at the opportunity to work with another creative.
Our planning started with finding some inspiration and looking closely at her current branding. We wanted to make sure we could get plenty of variety in the right colour palette for her to use for social media, to create graphics and to highlight some of her favourite brands.
We met at the GORGEOUS Plympton Chapel Airbnb in Camlachie (can’t wait to go back for a girls weekend!), and spent a few hours laughing, talking about her company and her brand, and getting the low down on her story. I love hearing stories about how entrepreneurs find their niche and start living their dreams. Especially amidst a pandemic, hearing stories of creatives overcoming adversity is so inspiring!
