We are taking the blog waaayyy back to Fall 2020! I have severely neglected this space for too long, and I have some beautiful sessions to share with you, including Reggie’s outdoor lifestyle newborn session. I know I say this every time, but I really hope to get better at sharing. So many of you trust me with documenting your family, and I wish I had more time to dedicate to social media and blogging. The world deserves to see this love!
For Reggie’s newborn session, we met up at the old Nicholl’s Memorial Forest in Wilkesport (which by the way is always has beautiful sunsets), and walked around with their pups for the evening. Reggie was so much fun, and already being a few months old he was so smiley!
This is session goes to show that newborn sessions can be outdoor, and babies don’t necessarily need to be “newborn”! I can’t speak for this family, but I think taking some time to slowly heal and get to know each other right after birth, and waiting for your newborn session is a great option to reduce stress in those early days.

These pups were so fun and energetic! I love when families include their pets in sessions, and especially in such a perfect location to bring your dog on an adventure.

See what I mean? Reggie’s smile still does it for me almost 2 years later! It might not be your typical in-home newborn session, but who wants typical anyway? I think I might be promoting a outdoor lifestyle newborn session more often! Are you interested in an outdoor family or newborn session? Get in touch today!

I love this family and their chaos. Not only do they always bring the fun, but they also bring the love.

A Canatara Park Family Session always yields so much variety! The endless trails, variety of greenery and the beautiful beach are all beautiful backdrops for a family session.
The Scott’s met me in the park by the animal farm and we explored some trails as the sun started to set. It was a beautiful August evening, not too humid and not too many mosquitoes in the grass.

Our adventure then led us to the beach for the most beautiful sunset. Ending a session on the beach is the perfect way to unwind, have some fun and get a little dirty. Who doesn’t love a little sand in their toes on a summer night? Pairs perfectly with an ice cream cone in my opinion 🙂

Have you seen anything sweeter than these three? Oh my goodness they were so cute. Those big brothers were so kind and loving to their sister. They each had beautiful personalities shining through that come only from a loving home.

Seriously, how sweet is this crew? And this little gal’s dress was handmade by her grandma – how special is that to be included in their family session?

Those last few minutes of your session, getting a little dirty, letting go of control and embracing the chaos – that is where the magic is! I always get the “money shots” at the start of your session so we can relax a little at the end, let the kids have some freedom to play and explore. These are always the best moments to capture each individual personality.
Want to meet up for a Canatara Park Family Session? Or maybe you have a spot that is meaningful to you and your crew – a park, your boat, cottage, your favourite path? Let’s explore together! Get in touch today and we can start planning your next family adventure.

I don’t often get to work with teenagers, but this session was so much fun! I met the Perry’s on their family farm just a stone throw from our home. They hadn’t had family photos done in a very long time and wanted an update. Like many others in 2020, they specifically requested a front porch photo and some “school photos” in case normal school portraits were a no-go, and I happily obliged!
Most of the tools in my toolbox are for younger kids, but the bonus of working with teenagers is they easily follow instructions! We has some good laughs together, evident in the grins, even with minimal potty humour!

One thing I always try to capture is Mom with the kids – no matter their age. And while shooting this session I distinctly remember wanting to make sure that relationship really shone in the images. Mom is usually the one behind the camera and there is often a gap in family albums – we have to search deep for photographs of Mom! I always strive to give mom that image that really reflects her deep love; an image where she can SEE how her love glows. I like to think those images are the ones our children will cherish long after we are gone, images of that “love sick” look on our face as we stare at our babies. In my experience there is nothing more fulfilling than knowing you are loved unconditionally.

If there was ever an argument for whether golden hour is as fantastic as everyone claims, this would be it! Also, if you ever want to finish your session by swinging on your tire swing at sunsets, just let me know. You are NEVER too old for a tire swing!

Extended family sessions are always so much fun! There is something so special about including grandparents in your sessions. They naturally bring on a sense of relaxation to mom and dad while making it extra fun for the kids.
The Wilson’s met me at McDonald Park in Port Lambton for an afternoon of giggles and fun by the water. This location is always perfect for summer light and has lots of room to run around and play. With two families + grandparents, there was no question it was going to be fun!

The girls were absolutely in LOVE with their little cousin and they all looked so beautiful together in that sunlight. Their snuggles, hugs and kisses came so naturally.

Forever obsessed with twirling dresses and hair in the sunlight!

I have had the pleasure of working with this beautiful family on so many occasions and it never gets old! They always have so much fun together and are just pleasant people all around. They met me out in Port Lambton for my first round of summer mini sessions this year and although it was quick, it was a lot of fun. One of the draw backs of mini sessions is you don’t have as much time to catch up and chat before or after! And especially with the year we have had, these small pockets of social interaction have been so important.
Have a gander through the entire set, which is guaranteed to put a smile on your face! Get in touch with me today to book your own summer lifestyle session.

Pretty freaking adorable, right? I can’t wait for the next time these smiling faces are in front of my camera again.
At this point in the pandemic I am unsure what my 2021 shooting schedule will look like. This year I offered a lot of mini sessions to try to make up for months of lost work, however I really missed that full session experience with everyone! I totally understand why people love them with their young kids, but I hate having to rush! What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments below! What is your ideal session length and why?

This beautiful family joined me for the first round of my summer mini sessions. It was my first time working with them (I still get butterflies in my stomach the first time I work with a new client!) and I am so glad they trusted me!
A few of my favourite images of the year came out of this session. The light was magical! And there is nothing that photographs better than a relaxed family that genuinely enjoys each others company.

Thank you again Kristen and Bobby! I hope decades from now you look back on these and smile big.
