I photograph a lot of people I already know. It’s a small town thing, I guess. But this family had moved to our area from Quebec, and my first time meeting them was when they invited me to do an in home family session with them last summer. They were so laid back, and my favourite part of the experience was knowing they truly valued the lifestyle images just as much as the posed.

They specifically wanted lots of images of them hanging out and doing the things they love like gardening and playing outside. They also included grandparents in the session, which is always a lovely idea!

We spent the morning hanging out, chatting about their editing company and how they came to Chatham-Kent, we played outside, laughed a lot, and I left there with a huge smile on my face. This was one of those sessions where I go home so grateful and excited about what I get to do.

Gorgeous right? I truly hope these images are in family albums for them to look back on for years.

We are taking the blog waaayyy back to Fall 2020! I have severely neglected this space for too long, and I have some beautiful sessions to share with you, including Reggie’s outdoor lifestyle newborn session. I know I say this every time, but I really hope to get better at sharing. So many of you trust me with documenting your family, and I wish I had more time to dedicate to social media and blogging. The world deserves to see this love!

For Reggie’s newborn session, we met up at the old Nicholl’s Memorial Forest in Wilkesport (which by the way is always has beautiful sunsets), and walked around with their pups for the evening. Reggie was so much fun, and already being a few months old he was so smiley!

This is session goes to show that newborn sessions can be outdoor, and babies don’t necessarily need to be “newborn”! I can’t speak for this family, but I think taking some time to slowly heal and get to know each other right after birth, and waiting for your newborn session is a great option to reduce stress in those early days.

These pups were so fun and energetic! I love when families include their pets in sessions, and especially in such a perfect location to bring your dog on an adventure.

See what I mean? Reggie’s smile still does it for me almost 2 years later! It might not be your typical in-home newborn session, but who wants typical anyway? Welcome back to the blog to one of my favourite little families! Candice and Chris have supported me from day one and watching their family grow is such an honour. Garrett was born premature and had to stay in the hospital for a while before he could come home. In the midst of the pandemic that meant that only one parent could go see him daily, and they could only go once a day. Mix that with a birth recovery, a full time job and a toddler at home – talk about a challenging couple of months! But if I can say one thing about Candice, it is that she is resilient. This mama handled her situation with grace and seeing all four of them together at home was so special!

Getting some special moments between siblings is always a priority during an in-home newborn session, and these two boys did not disappoint! Lewis was so cute and gentle with Garrett. In the past he wasn’t always a fan of my camera, but during this session he stepped up as big bro and was showing everyone so much love.

Krista & Mike contacted me pre-pandemic to do an in-home newborn session when their baby girl arrived, but like so many others in 2020, our plans changed.

As soon as the province allowed us, I reached out and offered to take their lifestyle newborn session outdoors, which they were excited about! They have a gorgeous and comfortable patio space that worked perfectly for our evening together. We chatted outside, they snuggled on their couch and we played it safe with physical distancing. I absolutely love hearing birth stories, talking about sleep challenges and offering reassurance to new moms. This is something that has not changed at all in my sessions which is wonderful.

Having the adjust to the changes in our world has been a challenge, but it has also allowed us to persevere and get creative with our business models – something I have to say I a thankful for! I am all for experimenting, thinking outside and box and trying new things.

Steph & Ian trusted me with their wedding day (see it here!) and it was honestly a life changing day for me. Their wedding was fun, but also very emotional and was a huge reminder of the importance of this work. When their little guy was born and they asked me to document him at home, I was again so honoured! I knew we were going to have a great time together and that they would be so easy to document.

We had a cozy Sunday morning session in February. Their home is beautifully decorated and had so many fun elements that made their session really unique. I love Steph’s style and their home really made my neutral dreams come true.

Many people ask me if we can include pets in their session, and my answer is always HECK YES! Your pets are an important part of your family and there is nothing I love more than a pup that is full of personality! I love including them in family sessions.

I am really excited to share this dreamy newborn session with Karissa, John and Leighton. We had such a lovely Sunday morning together, taking it slow and snuggling lots. Their adorable pup joined us for some love, too! Seeing new parents all googly-eyed looking at their baby always gives me warm and fuzzys, but also the way they look at each other.

As new parents you are often tired, stressed and overwhelmed. But after you have your first baby, you also see you partner in a whole new light. There is a new appreciation for each other and there is a new level of love that gets unlocked when you bring a new life into the world.

John and Karissa were no exception – they were so content together, looking at their new girl with adoration, but also glancing at each other with looks of pure joy. I hope you can feel the love viewing their session!
