I don’t often get to work with teenagers, but this session was so much fun! I met the Perry’s on their family farm just a stone throw from our home. They hadn’t had family photos done in a very long time and wanted an update. Like many others in 2020, they specifically requested a front porch photo and some “school photos” in case normal school portraits were a no-go, and I happily obliged!
Most of the tools in my toolbox are for younger kids, but the bonus of working with teenagers is they easily follow instructions! We has some good laughs together, evident in the grins, even with minimal potty humour!

One thing I always try to capture is Mom with the kids – no matter their age. And while shooting this session I distinctly remember wanting to make sure that relationship really shone in the images. Mom is usually the one behind the camera and there is often a gap in family albums – we have to search deep for photographs of Mom! I always strive to give mom that image that really reflects her deep love; an image where she can SEE how her love glows. I like to think those images are the ones our children will cherish long after we are gone, images of that “love sick” look on our face as we stare at our babies. In my experience there is nothing more fulfilling than knowing you are loved unconditionally.
If there was ever an argument for whether golden hour is as fantastic as everyone claims, this would be it! Also, if you ever want to finish your session by swinging on your tire swing at sunsets, just let me know. You are NEVER too old for a tire swing!
