When Meghan asked if I would be interested in coming to Banff to photograph and film their wedding, I couldn’t have said “Hell Yes!” any faster than I did. Meg is from Ontario and Cam is from New Zealand, where they live now. They decided on Banff as a way to meet in the middle and it was the perfect accent to their love of the outdoors. Their daughter Tilly took part in the day and was often the centre of attention – for obvious reasons!
Their ceremony took place at Tunnel Mountain Reservoir, with all of the friends and family staying at the neighbouring Douglas Fir Resort. The location was perfect just off Hoodoos trail and surrounded by the mountain views you only get in Banff.
Driving around Lake Minnewanka was so beautiful, there was no lack of opportunities to stop and explore. Although it was hazy and overcast with a light drizzle the entire day, we had a lot of fun dodging elk poop and scaling a few rocks.
After an awesome afternoon of exploring they held their reception and dinner at The Bison in downtown Banff. The staff there were amazing to work with, and the vibe was perfect (the meal was also incredible!!).
I could talk for hours about this wedding and how lucky I feel to have been asked to be there. It was a very incredible experience for me. I was able to take a short trip one on one with Archer, we got to visit family and friends in Calgary and he got to see Lake Louise for the first time. Getting to incorporate travel with my work is my dream, and I am thankful every day that Meg & Cam offered me this opportunity. Stay tuned for another post with their wedding film!
